What is UPLIFT Florida Network?
UPLIFT Florida Network is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to contribute to the diverse ecosystem improving the well-being of individuals aging in community via a network of villages and strategic partners. As a hub organization, UPLIFT supports community-based villages and organizations to fulfill people’s desire for belonging, self-determination, and community connectedness.
What is a village?
A village is a community-based network of members and organizations engaged to support aging interdependently and maintain the well-being of its members. Members engage in projects to improve their communities through volunteering, advocating, and creating solutions to community issues.
Most villages are grassroots, self-governing membership organizations that promote neighbor-to-neighbor support and community connectivity. They enhance interdependence and healthy living and are run by volunteers or paid staff.
Is UPLIFT Florida Network like the “The Villages” community in Florida?
UPLIFT Florida Network is a network of people, organizations, and communities in Florida. A village is a community-based organization not dependent upon location or physical structures.
“The Villages” is a census-designated place in Sumter County, Florida, United States. It is a master-planned age-restricted community that spreads into portions of Lake and Marion counties.
